I liked the promise that society would be exposed as the real monster, and not the people destroyed by it. However, telling the story through a character who is a pure victim takes the film away from that goal. It’s not a social critique when all evil is concentrated in a single arch-villain, while everyone else is excused due to their good intentions. On the contrary, it should have been shown that in such a brutal context, villainy and compassion are not so easily distinguished. The tone was also a bit off – more melancholic than anything else – and left the viewer indifferent to what was happening on screen.\n<\/p>\n
