In The Day of the Jackal (1973), the Jackal also drives a white Alfa Romeo, albeit an earlier generation model. Eddie Redmayne excels in The Day of the Jackal, bringing depth and intensity to his role, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with every move.
Lashana Lynch feels a bit out of place in her role here, however
His performance elevates the story, adding layers of intrigue that make him a compelling lead character. While talented, her portrayal doesn’t quite match Redmayne’s nuanced portrayal, disrupting the flow and immersion at times.
Stronger leadership would fix that
It makes you wonder about the casting: Could a different pairing have made this an instant classic? A stronger balance between the leads could deliver the epic feel the story deserves.
