Line of Events
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as their long-running rivalry reaches its climax. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner had previously filmed at Chavenage House (the Priory in Rivals). The same location was used to represent Trenwith House in the BBC’s 2015 TV adaptation of Poldark. I laugh at some of the criticism, apparently from readers who take themselves too seriously. This is a Jilly Cooper adaptation. This is not a show to intellectualise or morally condemn. It’s so much fun. Great acting. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. Taggie’s hair too. But they do. Somehow RCB will disappoint some for that. But Alex Hassell captures everything else about him. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is brilliant as always. And Aidan Turner is just magnificent, if a little young to play Declan. It falters a little in the last third. But yeah. It’s incredibly entertaining. I watched the whole thing in one go.
